The second trailer and some other featurettes shed some light on what might happen in this show. So, She-Hulk will begin with Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner and Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walters getting involved in a car accident. That’s how, Banner’s blood mixes with Walter’s blood stream and she too has the green powers.
It doesn’t seem like she wants to hide her powers, rather she’s keen about them and accepts them. Bruce then trains Jennifer how to use her powers and their perks. Jennifer seems to be doing pretty well at learning and catches up easily. We’ll see Jennifer Walter breaking the fourth wall just like Deadpool does.
We’ll get a glimpse of how crazy the world has been after the events of Endgame. There are a lot of super-powered individuals and hence a division is set-up for them. Just like criminals have lawyers, so do super-villains.
As, Jennifer Walters is a lawyer who has just got her powers, she’s transferred to this new division where she’s first assigned to fight a case for Abomination. The show also jokes her on being big, green & single and hence we’ll also see her dating.
As Walters is a lawyer, the idea of being a superhero doesn’t seem too promising to her and hence, she just wants to be a lawyer instead.
The villain for this show is Titania (Jameela Jamil) who enters the courtroom and Walters has to fight her. Their fight is filmed and she becomes famous. We also have Wong who’ll show up a lot of times.
When will She-Hulk release?
Marvel changed the release date of this show. Instead of August 17, the first episode of She-Hulk will air on 18th August and the last on 13th October 2022.
We already saw Madam Hydra in TFATWS. There are strong chances that she may show up here as well to do some recruiting for Thunderbolts. There’s a rumor that Red Hulk may show up in Thunderbolts and if this is true, She-Hulk series will surely weave some kind of story in the background.
Hell yes. In the trailer itself, Daredevil shows up in the end wearing his comic accurate yellow and red costume. Now, it’s not yet confirmed if he’s going to be there for just one episode or more.
There are chances that Matt Murdock shows up for most of the time offering advice to Walters as he’s a really good lawyer.
The main reason for Charlie Cox’s Daredevil being in this show for a small time is due to the fact that a majority of the events take place in California. The Devil primarily resides in Hell’s Kitchen in New York. So, it’s possible that Walters goes to New York and gets caught up in some events.
Is the MCU Jennifer Walters different than comics?
Just like Kamala Khan, Marvel has changed the origin of powers for Jennifer Walters. In the comics, Walters gets her powers by blood transfusion from Bruce Banner.
But other than this, her characteristics are the same as in the comics. Jennifer Walters is a lawyer by day and an Avenger by night. Unlike her cousin, she’s an extrovert and has good control over her green powers. Due to this she chooses to be in her She-Hulk form most of the time.
In one version of the comics, she very often breaks the fourth wall, a peculiarity which Marvel has adopted for this show as well.
She-Hulk is currently being heavily criticized by fans because of poor effects used for Jennifer Walters when she turns green. I’ll be honest, this is not Marvel’s best work and She-Hulk’s scenes really look like they’re from a video game.
This fire of criticism grew more when former VFX artist Dhruv Govil blurted out how Marvel Studios puts a lot of pressure on artists to complete their work.
Its pretty obvious that the cast of this show and the director have been in the defense of this criticism.
It’s hard to believe such poor effects from a Studio that delivered block buster movies such as Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
What will be She-Hulk’s future?
Now that Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars has been announced, we’ll surely see She-Hulk in one or both of these installments.
