Ms. Marvel Episode 2 is titled ‘Crushed‘ which is a reference to Kamala having a crush on Kamraan and her emotions getting crushed at the end of this episode.
Ms. Marvel Episode 2 starts with Kamala Khan entering her school in a confident way now that she has discovered her powers. Then as she’s testing her powers we get a few more references to Antman similar to Episode 1.
This episode dices more into the South-Asian world in Jersey city. There are a few reference to Shah Rukh Khan and Bollywood. There are also references to Senior Kingo from Eternals. This means that no one knows that Senior Kingo and Junior Kingo are the same person.
There are also reference to real world facts such as the partition of India and Pakistan. Marvel Studios wants to make you believe that the real world and MCU Earth – 616 is very much alike.
There are also background songs of Ritviz’s – Jeet and Tesher’s – Jalebi Baby played in this episode. It’s nice to see from Marvel Studios that their teen-drama stands out from Netflix’s drama shows. Full points to Ms. Marvel for this.
Ms. Marvel Episode 2 gives more depth to Kamala Khan. Her romance run with Kamraan screams and tells you that something is fishy with this character. I mean when has been getting attention been so easy. It’s easy to tell that Kamraan is a mysterious character.
In the comics, Kamraan’s family is working for the inventor who was referenced in Ms. Marvel Episode 1. He isn’t pure evil but gets caught up between good and bad.
The plot for Ms. Marvel picks up when she tries to save a kid from falling and barely manages to do so. So, Marvel is always trying to introduce the element of mystery in every TV Show. The cliffhanger for this episode is not that great but the plot will make up for this.
Overall, full points for developing the world around Kamala Khan and providing depth to her character diving into the plot.
Nega Bands History
This episode gives few more details about the Nega bands although no-one hasn’t formally said anything about it.
During the dining table scene, Kamala’s father mentions about how her grandmother Aisha followed the trail of stars to catch the last train. This literally means that she used the bands to catch the train in the past.
But after that we see that many characters tell stories about Aisha. This may mean that Aisha wore the bands and fought some kind of battle. But because women standing up was condemned in the past, Aisha was killed only to be forgotten. Kamala’s mother seems to know about his or has bought these stories.
I’m guessing we’ll get a better explanation about this in the upcoming explanation. Perhaps things will be more clear after that.
Ms. Marvel Kree Connection
We see that Kamala sees glimpses of what might have happened with the previous wearer of this band. It’s seems that Kamala’s family has some kind of history with Kree. There’s something in her DNA that enables the bands to work with her.
The other thing is we get a bit more explanation about how her powers work. Kamala says that whatever she thinks, the bands do it for her. That’s like Green Lantern.
Ms. Marvel Episode 2 – Easter Eggs
Paul Rudd – Apart from Antman, Kamala references Paul Rudd looking better as he ages.
Kingo – During their ‘Date’, Kamraan mentions Kingo Senior. Kingo has been pretending to be a part of a dynasty.
Black Widow – When Kamala lands on the ground, she literally copies the pose of Black Widow; such a poser
Spiderman: Far From Home – The drones which we see at the end of this episode, seem to be using E.D.I.T.H. Quentin Beck used the same drones to track Peter Parker in Spiderman: Far from Home.
Hawkeye – In the closing credits scene, we see a truck used by Tracksuits in Hawkeye. It has the name ‘Trust A Bro’ written on it.
If you spot any other major easter egg, feel free to mention it in the comment section.
