The first trailer for Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire was released in December 2023.
Another trailer was then launched in February that gives you an idea about what’s going on in this movie.
What is Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire about?
This movie will see the two main monsters Godzilla and Kong unite together to fight against a new enemy. Here’s the official synopsis of this movie:

The villain ‘Skar King’ has stolen power from the Hollow Earth and hence he must be stopped.
Why is Godzilla pink in Godzilla x Kong The New Empire?
Godzilla emits blue colored atomic energy in Godzilla vs Kong. In the beginning of this movie too, he’ll be seen with blue color. But as the movie progresses, he’ll get a major power upgrade and the color that he emits will change to pink.
Godzilla x Kong The New Empire Release Date
Godzilla x Kong The New Empire is set to release on March 29, 2024. This movie was initially scheduled to release on March 15 but then it was postponed to April 12. But then WB and Legendary finally moved up it’s release date 2 weeks.
Who is the villain of Godzilla vs Kong 2?
The villain of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is Skar King. In April 2023, Legendary Pictures released a title reveal trailer which also shows Skar King.
He seems to be sitting on a throne somewhere in Hollow Earth. Notice the bones around him. You’ll also see two massive skulls near the edge of the footage which are the skulls of Godzilla and Kong. It’s possible that the Skar King might have killed previous versions of these beasts.
The Skar King also has blue glowing eyes suggesting that he too has atomic energy same as Godzilla. It’ll be interesting to see to how the fight between the monsters.
In the trailer, you can see a clear shot of The Skar King. This shot is from the moment when Kong goes back to the Hollow Earth and finds the Skar King’s throne. All the apes then start asking for a fight.
Kong gets an upgrade
When Kong fights with The Skar King in the Hollow Earth, his dominant hand gets fractured. Ilen Andrews with the help of Monarch and he gets Kong an upgrade. You can see that he gets a Yellow mechanical structure which not only supports his broken hand but also enhances his power.
Is mothra in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire?
Mothra is the monster who helped Godzilla beat Ghidorah in Godzilla: The King of Monsters. But in doing so it died. However, the post-credit scene of the movie revealed that Mothra laid an egg before going to fight against Ghidorah. Michael Doughtery, the director of Godzilla: The King of Monsters said that as Mothra’s memories get passed on to its offsprings, it never dies as long as it’s able to lay an egg.
A mural of Mothra was also present during the opening credits of Godzilla vs Kong which proved that it did take part in the previous Titan War. Also, The Skar King has many apes to support him and hence it makes more sense that Mothra makes its return to support Godzilla and Kong.

Although some of the actors are returning to reprise their roles, Alexander Skarsgård’s Nathan Lind
and Millie Bobby Brown’s Madison Russell aren’t returning for this movie. Here’s the cast of this movie:

Dan Stevens’ character Trapper will be the main protagonist apart from the central characters Godzilla and Kong.
In addition these there’s also Rachel House (Thor: Ragnarok), Alex Ferns (The Batman), Fala Chen (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), and Mercy Cornwall (Dive Club) whose roles have yet to be revealed.
