Deadpool 3 is now officially titled Deadpool and Wolverine as revealed by the teaser trailer released on February 11. This movie has also broken down the record for most watched trailer in 24 hours. Deadpool knows that he can save the MCU and he doesn’t fail to flaunt about that in the trailer.

Deadpool and Wolverine Official Teaser Trailer

Here’s all the easter eggs in the trailer:

Deadpool and Friends

The very first shot of the trailer reveals that Wade Wilson has the same set of friends that you last saw in Deadpool 2. At the end of the movie, he saves his girlfriend Vanessa and Peter, both of which can be seen in the photo. Along with them, there’s Blind Al, Buck, Colossus, Shatterstar, Negasonic Teen, Yukio, and Dopinder.

You can even see Shatterstar although he died in Deadpool 2. This is something you’ll just have to accept as the movie might not focus on his redemption.

Deadpool and number 17 reference

deadpool 3 number 17

When there’s a knock on the door, you can see Wade Wilson opening the door revealing the number 17. Wade Wilson lives in apartment number 17 of the building. But there’s more to this number.

  • Deadpool #17 (1997): Deadpool uses goggles to see into distant worlds, and he has a teleporter
  • Deadpool #17 (2009): Deadpool joins the X-Men

In both of these comics, Deadpool wanders off somewhere else. Is this a reference that this time Deadpool is brought by the TVA to join the MCU?

TVA

deadpool and wolverine tva

This isn’t much of a surprise as without TVA it was impossible to bring Deadpool into the MCU. Hence, the next big easter egg is obviously The TVA. It’s unusual that they bothered to knock Wade Wilson’s door when they can pop up anywhere and take anyone hostage. Another thing to note here is that none of the TVA agents are the same that you saw in Loki Season 1&2.

Just after Wade says, “Pegging isn’t new for me kiddo, but it is for Disney”, by breaking the fourth wall, there’s another TVA door that opens right behind Wade and another TVA agents pull him back. While the agent in front of him tries to pull him forward by pulling his wig. Is this a different TVA from the one seen in Loki Season 1&2? Only time will tell.

But The TVA bringing Deadpool into the MCU is a part of a greater storyline going in the background where the TVA is bringing heroes from different timelines to a single timeline, something known as ‘Battle World’. This is to fight Doctor Doom in Avengers: Secret Wars.

Wade Wilson is selling cars

wade wilson selling cars

Wade Wilson is going through a mid-life crisis in Deadpool and Wolverine. He has left his superhero life and is selling cars. This can be seen from the scene above where Wade is sitting in a locker room and looks at his locker. You can see a red Deadpool suit hanging in the locker. Wade looks at the suit as if he’s missing his old life.

Deadpool’s Emmy acceptance Speech

Ryan Reynolds’ documentary ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ won five Emmy awards but he was unable to accept the awards himself. Hence, he had his buddy Deadpool record an acceptance video for the awards. You can see this speech video on the a small TVA screen in the corner.

Cassandra Nova as the antagonist of Deadpool and Wolverine

cassandra nova

There’s only one brief shot and that too of the back of the head. It’s easy to confuse this character with Professor X. But this character is Cassandra Nova, the evil telepathic twin of Professor X played by Emma Corin of The Crown.

Hulk’s bed from Thor: Ragnarok

Just as TVA agent Matthew Mcfadyen tries to recruit Deadpool, there’s one shot of Deadpool sitting on what seems to be Hulk’s bed from Thor: Ragnarok.

Wolverine Variant ‘Patch’

patch

Wolverine does show up in his comic book accurate yellow suit at the end of the Deadpool and Wolverine teaser trailer. But before that, there’s one shot in a bar where’s Wolverine is sitting at a table wearing a white suit. The only way to spot him is by his hairstyle.

This is a Wolverine variant called ‘Patch’; a darker version of Wolverine. There was also an easter egg for this scene in She-Hulk. There was a blog titled ‘Man Fights with metal claws in bar brawl’. In comics, Wolverine has connection with Madripoor and hence ‘Patch’ might be in Madripoor. As he’s a variant, ‘Patch’ is currently rumored to be played by a different actor.

The place where Wolverine dies

logan dying deadpool 3

As the trailer progress, Deadpool is fighting some agents but look at the surrounding. It seems like the place where Logan died in his 2017 movie. However, this place also looks similar to the place in Sokovia where the Avengers were fighting in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

20th Century Logo in the void

20th Century logo

Disney has brought the rights of all the mutants from 20th Century Fox and that’s probably the reason why there’s a logo of it in the teaser trailer. The logo seems to be in the void and Deadpool is fighting other characters pruned by TVA in the void.

The Bridge from X-Men: The Last Stand

This easter eggs is by far the hardest to catch. When this person resembling Doctor Doom attacks with this weapon, there’s a bridge in the background. This is the bridge from X-Men: The Last Stand pruned by the TVA.

Lady Deadpool in Deadpool and Wolverine

lady deadpool

This easter egg is hiding in plain sight. In this shot, you can see Deadpool firing ‘Uzi’. Deadpool has never used ‘Uzi’ so far. His uses ‘Glock’. Hence, it’s possible that this is Lady Deadpool, a female variant of Deadpool.

Lady Deadpool is currently rumored to be played by Ryan Reynolds’ real-life wife Blake Lively. When the teaser trailer of Deadpool and Wolverine was released, Ryan Reynolds jokingly posted “Has everyone seen the #Deadpool trailer? Also has anyone seen my wife?” on his Instagram account. It’s possible he wasn’t just asking about Blake Lively attending the Superbowl without him.

Maybe he was also pointing out if you saw Blake in the teaser trailer.

Pyro in Deadpool and Wolverine

pyro

Aaron Stanford played Pyro in X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand. In the trailer of Deadpool and Wolverine, you can see him saying “God, I love this part!” He’ll probably try to kill Deadpool as he was also on the antagonist’s side in the previous two films.

Secret Wars Comic Book and Pingo Doce Bottle in Deadpool and Wolverine

secret wars comic book

Towards the very end of the trailer a Secret Wars comic book with Dr. Doom on the front cover is visible. This is issue #5 of Hickmans’ 2015 run where the creation of Battleworld is explored. There’s also a bottle of Pingo Doce, from The Incredible Hulk (2008) and Ant-Man (2015).

Wolverine

The most awaited character was teased in the final shot of the teaser trailer and that too only for a second. You can see Wolverine in his comic book accurate yellow suit. He thinks that Deadpool is his enemy and hence sticks his claws into him.
