Loki Season 2 Episode 1 has a post credit scene. It’s not as mysterious or thrilling but it does have its meaning there. I have already written explained Loki Season 2 Episode 1 Easter Eggs.
Hence, it’s time to dig into the post credit scene now.
Does Loki season 2 episode 1 have a post credit scene?
Loki Season 2 Episode 1 has one post-credit scene which takes place in Broxton, Oklahoma in 1982 with Sylvie in it. Sylvie kills He Who Remains and goes to Broxton which has a connection to a Thor storyline in the comics.
I’ve already written about this in my easter eggs post. Broxton is where New Asgard was formed after Hela destroyed Asgard.
After the credits of Episode 1 roll, Sylvie transports herself to Oklahoma and enters a colorful McDonalds. She then orders everything that is there on the menu to eat for herself.
Why does Sylvie chose to go to McDonald’s in Broxton in 1982?
In the very first shot, you can see her in a field. It’s possible that she walks her way and McDonald’s being red and yellow in color draws her attention. That’s why she walks in. However, the fact that she chose Broxton and the year 1982 is random.
Producer Kevin Wright explains that 1980’s was the year when McDonald’s theme appealed to families. McDonald’s was a happy place where families flocked in to have a happy time.
“When we stayed in the view of character, this woman who went on the run as a child, had been running through time, a fugitive of time, living in apocalypses, never being able to relax or slow down, the novelty of walking into a 1980s McDonald’s looked appealing.
You play a Little League game and go to McDonald’s. You go to a kid’s birthday party at McDonald’s. Someone like Sylvie would never have experienced that, and would be really taken by that… I was worried that McDonald’s would think we wanted to do something ironic or make fun of them. But we were selling an earnest story, a love letter to nostalgia through a character’s eyes who will see all of the novelty and joy of it.”

This fact really appeals to Sylvie’s character arc.
In Loki Season 1, Sylvie explains that she has been on the run since she was 10 years old. Given the fact that she’s a frost giant, it would mean that she has was on run for thousands of years. That would mean that she would hardly have time for herself. She would never have enjoyed herself as she was running.
You see Sylvie is a character who never got her childhood, never had the luxury of simple pleasures and lived in a state of fear. This fear fueled her intentions to bring the TVA down. That is why she killed He Who Remains.
So, when she enters McDonald’s and sees people laughing and enjoying she finally thinks that this is time. Sylvie for a moment feels what Thanos felt after the snap; pure satisfaction and bliss.
That’s why she doesn’t feel the need to hide herself and goes inside wearing what she usually wears and gives herself a treat.
